Cherbourg Peninsula : Normandy - June 2008
Tuesday 3rd June
Poole-Cherbourg crossing at 12.30 with Brittany Ferries.
Arrive Cherbourg at 6pm local time and drive 30 miles to Camping l'Etang des Haizes in La Haye du Puits.
Welcome drink with campsite owner.
Wednesday 4th June
Free day, where you can visit the popular morning market in La Haye du Puits, within walking distance of the campsite.
In the evening the campsite owners are organising a meal (optional) which everyone on site is invited to.
Thursday 5th June
In the morning you'll be taken by coach to visit the Fromagerie Réo to see the traditional production of camembert cheese.
Friday 6th June
A day's outing by coach to explore some of the landmarks from the Second World War, including Normandy landing beaches, St Mère Eglise, the first French town to be liberated and the American cemetery at Colleville sur Mer.
Saturday 7th June
A free day to explore the surrounding area or relax at the campsite.
Sunday 8th June
In the evening you can enjoy the company of your fellow ralliers at a 4-course farewell dinner served at a local restaurant.
Monday 9th June
Enjoy your final day at the campsite at leisure.
Tuesday 10th June
Depart Etang des Haizes for the ferry from Cherbourg at 8am, arriving back at Poole at 11.30am.
Prices
From £412 for car & caravan plus 2 people, from £411 for motorhome plus 2 people. Supplements are payable for vehicles over 6m long or over 1.8m high.
Included in the price are the above-mentioned excursions with coach pick-up from the campsite, 7 nights on a pitch with electricity, welcome drink and farewell meal, ferry crossings as listed above.
